Agenisis of the Corpus Callosum Aicardi Syndrome Can Cranial Therapy Help?

7-01 Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum, Aicadia Syndrome Can Cranial Therapy Help?

Sometimes people with agenesis [lack of development] of the corpus callosum [the area of the brain which connects the right and left sides] are “only slightly impaired relative to normal subjects” (Forster, 2000). Agenesis of the corpus callosum can be associated with hemangiomas, brain abnormalities, cranial cysts, cranial deformities, arterial dysfunction, eye abnormalities, myelination problems, autonomic nervous system, and olfactory bulb dysfunctions.
Manual Therapy approaches including Cranial Therapy, Integrative Manual Therapy and Osteopathic Manual Therapy have helped address the function in many children with brain dysfunctions. The purpose of this review is to give a skilled manual therapist, not familiar with agenesis of the corpus callosum, an idea about the different anatomic presentations and clinical considerations....
