Sheila was born in Hawaii but grew up in Southern California. She graduated from UCLA with a BS in kinesiology and received her physical therapy degree from Stanford University. She opened Yonemoto Physical Therapy in 1982. She continues to train in Integrative Manual Therapy, Qigong and management skills.
 
Sheila especially enjoys teaching Qigong and has traveled annually to China to study with her Qigong teacher. She organizes lectures and classes on IMT for the public, physical therapists and other healthcare communities.
